What is a Sorority?
A sorority is an organization of women bound together by friendship, knowledge, sisterhood, common goals and aspirations. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is international service organization comprised of women from every profession. Members demonstrate the examples of high character standards and community service engagement as well as scholastic and professional achievement. Sigma women are dedicated to helping each other and their personal success is recognized in The AURORA and through various awards.
What is the policy on hazing?
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has zero tolerance for hazing. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. does not condone hazing in any form.
What are the advantages of joining Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.?
Sigma Gamma Rho offers its members opportunities to develop and enhance their respective leadership talents through training and mentorship. Committee leadership and participation in sorority activities and programs further hones these talents.
Sigma Gamma Rho membership provides an atmosphere to connect with a global network of professional contacts, provide invaluable mentorship, increase service to the community, and to join a sisterhood that lasts a lifetime.
Do you have to pay to become a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority,
Inc.?
Yes. There is an application fee and new member fees for women who seek consideration for membership. Once a member, payment of annual dues is required in order to maintain an active financial membership status in the sorority. The monies collected are applied towards local chapter, regional and national initiatives as well as administrative expenses.
How much time is required?
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. members attend monthly local chapter meetings and area meetings along with regional and national conferences.
Members participate in community service projects on the local, regional and national levels. All members are strongly encouraged to support the sorority’s initiatives whenever possible and make a commitment to support these initiatives as a part of their schedule.
Does your sorority provide professional training?
Sigma Gamma Rho offers various meetings, workshops, webinars, and trainings on an array of different subjects that enhance personnel skills, life skills, and career/professional development.
